Lundby Mobility Centre’s summary of experiences during the years 2000-2007
Lundby Mobility Centre has been active in Lundby between 2000 and 2007 developing and introducing new sustainable solutions for traffic and transportation.
Through using a sizeable number of sub-projects directed towards individual citizens and workplaces, Lundby is and has been a test area and the intention is for the know-how and the solutions that have been developed and evaluated in Lundby are now ready for use in other parts of Göteborg. One stage along the route of this journey is that we have gathered together all our resources at the Traffic & Public Transport Authority and we are now in the process of spreading what we have learned from Lundby to the rest of Göteborg.
Through this web site you will be able to find information and see the results of all the projects that have been conducted up and including 2007.
The Mobility Office in Lundby now closed; if you have any questions or have something you think the Traffic & Public Transport Authority can help you with, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
Vision Lundby and Lundby Mobility Centre
In 2000 Vision Lundby was started as a collaboration project with the intention of increasing the level of knowledge concerning sustainable solutions for traffic and transportation, and to develop and test methods to get different groups of people to change their travel habits. Lundby, as an area of the city, was chosen as it is the subject of significant on-going change, involving new residential areas and businesses, which are being established at an impressive rate especially in and around the former wharves and shipyards along the Göta Älv river. A new city is set to grow right in the centre of Göteborg during a twenty year period. 21 000 jobs are located in the area, meaning many people are commuting to and from Lundby on a daily basis.
A local office, named Lundby Mobility Centre was opened in Lundby in 2003. This was a local service office to which both businesses and individual citizens could turn to get advice and information. The work at Lundby Mobility Centre was divided into two directions: one towards businesses and workplaces, and the other towards individual citizens. The goal was to achieve a degree of collaboration between as many different parties as possible, and to create lasting relationships based on the efforts to change travel habits to more sustainable long-term ones.
All the resources were centralised and relocated to the Traffic & Public Transport Authority in 2007, and the local office in Lundby was closed. Efforts concerning Lundby as a pilot project continue, but are driven from the Authority’s offices. The intention is for the experiences and solutions developed in Lundby to be used in other parts of Göteborg.
